BIOGRAPHY

Filmmaker | Author | Visionary Scientist | Creator of Fungus Theory of Conscious Growth

Mark L. Christensen is a Hollywood-credited film writer, director, and musician turned visionary science author and  futurist. His career bridges art, architecture, and evolutionary science — all orbiting a single unifying idea: that human consciousness is the spore of all organic life on Earth, designed to survive the end of Earth itself.

Through his groundbreaking “Fungus Theory of Conscious Growth,” Christensen proposes that consciousness evolves like a fungal network — spreading, adapting, and recombining through biological, cultural, and technological forms. This theory reimagines humanity as a continuation of the fungal principle that first united plant and animal life, suggesting that human intelligence is not an anomaly, but the natural fruiting body of Earth’s long evolutionary mycelium.

Christensen’s work explores the Void of Psychosis (VOP) — the psychological space between identities during transformation — and the concept of Maximum Conscious Growth (MCG), a universal process that drives evolution toward ever-greater awareness. His companion framework, Cosmognosis, extends these ideas to the cosmic scale, proposing that consciousness is a thermodynamic function of the universe itself — one that seeks to know and preserve itself through intelligent life.

Alongside his scientific writing, Christensen is the founder of the Futura Space House Project — a smart, prefabricated fiberglass habitat designed for extreme environments and off-grid living in Yucca Valley, California. The project embodies the Fungus Theory philosophy in physical form: adaptability, replication, and the preservation of life beyond Earth.

His multidisciplinary work — spanning film, architecture, psychology, and cosmology — has been featured in both entertainment and scientific circles. Christensen’s writing and public speaking seek to unite these worlds, inspiring a global audience to rethink humanity’s origins, purpose, and future.
